Hosts South Africa went down to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the Women's World Cup.

A big innings from Rumeli Dhar (34 not out off 41 balls with two sixes) settled a low-scoring match in which South Africa made just 80.

Sri Lanka again failed to reach a three-figure total as they crashed to a second defeat, New Zealand winning.

And there was also a win for favourites Australia, who beat West Indies by 79 runs after being bowled out for 230.

South Africa v India

South Africa won the toss at the Technikon Oval, Pretoria, and collapsed from 52-1 to 80 all out, with Johmari Logtenberg the top-scorer on 26.

Slow left-armer Deepa Marathe celebrated a remarkable bowling spell in which she took four wickets in six overs, conceding just one run.

India initially struggled with their run chase, however, sliding to 56-6 with Alicia Smith taking 4-19. But Dhar came in to get India home in style.

Sri Lanka v New Zealand

Hiruka Fernando hit 16 but nobody else reached double figures, with Helen Watson taking 2-0 in 2.3 overs.

Rachel Pullar and Anna Corbin also took two wickets apiece as Sri Lanka were bowled out in 34.3 overs and there were also two run outs.

The Kiwis needed less than 19 overs to reach their target, and lost three wickets along the way - Praba Udawatte took two of them and Maia Lewis top-scored with 20.

Australia v West Indies

Karen Rolton (69) and Lisa Keightley (56) put on 54 for the second wicket before Rolton and Melanie Jones (27) added a further 73 in a strong batting performance from the Aussies.

West Indies' Envis Williams took 3-32.

A target of 231 against Australia was always going to be tough for the Windies, who were bowled out for 151, Juliana Nero top-scoring with 40.
