After joining the BBC in 1990, Simon began reporting on Test matches for Radio Five Live four years later. He reported on two World Cups, before joining the TMS commentary team for the first time on England's 1996 tour to Zimbabwe.
His broadcasting highlight came during the 1999 World Cup when he described the closing overs of the South Africa v Australia semi-final for BBC TV.

The Bristolian is a keen club cricketer who enjoys playing as much as watching.
