| Vaughan up to second England batsman Michael Vaughan has shot to second place in the latest PwC ratings.
It is the highest ranking for an England player since Graham Gooch ten years ago. Vaughan's century in the Sydney Test against Australia was his third for the series and his eighth in 28 Tests. He finished 2002 as the year's leading run-scorer with an overall total of 1,481 runs. Australia's Matthew Hayden continues to head the list after a successful Ashes series, but he is just 10 points ahead of Vaughan. Andy Caddick, the bowling hero of England's triumphant fifth Ashes Test, has moved into sixth place.
