| |  Monday, 2 December, 2002, 10:01 GMT Lee disturbed by Tudor injury  Tudor received six stitches above his left eye Australia's Brett Lee has admitted he was shocked by the sight of a bloodied Alex Tudor staggering away from the wicket in Sunday's Third Ashes Test. Tudor was taken from the Waca Ground on a stretcher after being hit by a Lee bouncer, resulting in the Englishman receiving six stitches in a wound above his left eye. Tudor's injury led to Lee being jeered by England supporters as Australia went on to win the Test by an innings and 48 runs to clinch the series 3-0. "It sort of freaked me out a little bit because I don't like seeing blood on the pitch and I went in to make sure that he was okay," Lee said on Monday. "He was pretty shaken up by it. I think he was in shock, but I went after the game to make sure he was okay and he was fine with it.
"He knows it is part of the game and people sometimes do get injured. It's part of Test cricket, but I certainly went up and apologised afterwards to make sure he was okay." Tudor, who spent the night in a Perth hospital, told BBC Five Live on Monday: "My head is ringing a bit today! It's just one of those things. "I was panicking. Luckily I had Alex Stewart with me who is a very good mate. "The Australian guys came round pretty quickly and barked a few instructions at me because I was rolling around and didn't really know what to do." England captain Nasser Hussain said on Sunday he had been disappointed by the crowd's reaction. "I thought that was poor and showed no knowledge of cricket," Hussain said. Lee said he was grateful for Hussain's support. He said: "It's very good that Nasser did stick up (for me). It is part of Test cricket, there's no such thing as a batting bunny these days. "Tudor is a fantastic batsman. He's a guy who scored 99 in Test cricket, so he's certainly no bunny. "But unfortunately for him it was one of those things where the ball went through the grill (of the helmet) and cleaned him up." | |
