West Indies' fast bowlers ripped through India's batting order, bowling the visitors out for 102 on the first day of the third Test at the Kensington Oval on Thursday.

In reply, West Indies were 33-1, after losing opener Stuart Williams, caught when trying to drive through the covers off Zaheer Khan for 18.

At stumps, left-hander Chris Gayle was on 14 with Ramnaresh Sarwan yet to score.

West Indies wrapped up India's innings after tea on a rain-interrupted day when Mervyn Dillon brilliantly caught captain Sourav Ganguly on the boundary off Adam Sanford.

Ganguly had put up some resistance with a gritty 48 but the rest of India's batsmen struggled against short-pitched bowling.

Dillon justified captain Carl Hooper's decision to bowl first by striking two quick blows.

He bowled Shiv Sundar Das through the gate off the Test's first ball beating him with pace on a fast, bouncy track.

Bombay's Wasim Jaffer, cut paceman Cameron Cuffy for two of his three boundaries but was dismissed when he edged a Dillon outswinger.

The crucial blow was struck by left-arm paceman Pedro Collins, who had Sachin Tendulkar caught for nought to put West Indies in command early on.

Tendulkar's duck was his second in succession, the ninth of his career, coming as he edged Collins to Jacobs.

Delays

Rain in Bridgetown interrupted play three times, reducing the first two sessions to a total of just 31 overs.

Rahul Dravid, who had struck an unbeaten 144 in the first drawn Test at Georgetown, was run out for 17 after a misunderstanding with Ganguly over a quick single to Shivnarine Chanderpaul at point.

Vangipurappu Laxman, man of the match with two fifties at Trinidad, did not last long either.

He was bowled for one by Cuffy with a ball that nipped in after pitching outside off.

Wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra (1) edged Dillon to Jacobs, who held on to an excellent one-handed catch diving to his right.

And Harbhajan Singh was out for 13 hooking Sanford straight to Dillon at fine-leg.

Zaheer Khan (4) cut Dillon through the off-side for a boundary but was out in the next over, fending off a short delivery from Sanford straight to Ramnaresh Sarwan at forward short-leg.

But Ganguly kept on fighting. He cut Collins to the point fence before driving Dillon straight down the ground for four and lofting him over long-off for a huge six that landed on the roof of the Sir Garfield Sobers pavilion.
