We can win, says Kallis

South Africa's Jacques Kallis believes his team can beat Australia in the third Test at Durban.

The all-rounder, whose bowling devastated the visitor's middle order, has not given up on an unlikely South African victory.

The hosts reduced Australia to 159-8 in their second innings, after the South Africa themselves were skittled out for a paltry 167 in an incredible second day's play.

That total is very gettable.
Jacques Kallis

"It was probably a combination of both poor shot selection and some excellent bowling which saw us bowled out like that", said Kallis.

"But I think that if we can get two quick wickets tomorrow, that total is very gettable."

Australia have a 307-run lead with three full days to play, but South Africa now have a chance of victory.

Kallis grabbed the wickets of Mark Waugh for 30 and Damien Martyn for a duck in his first over.

He added the prize scalp of Adam Gilchrist, getting him caught behind for 16 - the wicketkeeper's first failure in the series.

Undefeated at the close were a stubborn Steve Waugh on 34, and Brett Lee on five.

Lee felt his team needed a lead of 350 to be reasonably sure of victory.

"At the moment I don't know if it's enough", he said.

"If we can put on another 40 runs tomorrow, we'll be in a pretty good position."

Australia has already clinched the three match series after winning the first two games in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
