Klusener back for Durban
Lance Klusener
Klusener took 10 wickets for his province last weekend
With captain Shaun Pollock ruled out of the third Test against Australia, starting in Durban on Friday, South Africa have recalled all-rounder Lance Klusener.

Pollock said on Tuesday that he hoped to have recovered from a side strain in time to play in the seven-match one-day international series that follows the Tests.

Klusener suffered from woeful form during the first two Tests in Australia last December, and a break at home over the New Year failed to lift his form with the bat.

But bowling figures of 10 for 107 for provincial side KwaZulu-Natal in a first-class match last weekend convinced the selectors to give him another chance.

The selectors look likely to turn their backs, though, on two youngsters who made their debuts during the home side's four wicket second Test defeat in Cape Town.

Pace bowler Dewald Pretorius, who troubled Australia's top order, but conceded 132 in 25 overs, has been dropped from the 13-man squad.

And Klusener looks likely to come into the XI at the expense of Andrew Hall, whose dogged first innings 70 prevented South Africa from an embarrassing early collapse.

Hall's medium-pace bowling was barely used on the final day, after he had conceded almost five runs per over in Australia's first innings.

Instead South Africa will look to take advantage of Kingsmead's swing-friendly wicket be recalling seamer David Terbrugge.

Batsman Justin Ontong has recovered from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the series opener to be named as designated 12th man.

South Africa squad for third Test: Gary Kirsten, Herschelle Gibbs, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, Neil McKenzie, Ashwell Prince, Mark Boucher (captain), Lance Klusener, Andrew Hall, Paul Adams, Makhaya Ntini, David Terbrugge. 12th man Justin Ontong.
