Takashinga chairman Mangongo has made the allegation |
Zimbabwe's chief of selectors has been accused of blackmailing international players into playing for his club. The chairman of a rival club has written a letter to Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Peter Chingoka citing unfair recruitment methods by Macsood Ebrahim.
Stephen Mangongo wrote: "Takashinga players have been instructed to move to Universals by Ebrahim without the consent of the Takashinga executive."
The letter said Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu may join the exodus.
Already Alester Maregwede, who has played Test cricket, and Chamunorwa Chibhabha have both moved to Universals from Takashinga.
Mangongo wrote. "We have also been told that another six players who have not agreed to the move by Ebrahim have been threatened with withdrawal of contracts.
"The six players, including the captain [Taibu] currently in Bangladesh, have all been produced and nurtured by Takashinga."
Zimbabwe are on tour in Bangladesh, where they are playing a one-day international series having lost a two-Test series 1-0.
It was their first series after returning from a suspension imposed by the International Cricket Council, who ruled in June last year that the team was too weak to play Test cricket.
The squad was severely depleted when top white players staged a walk-out in a selection dispute.
