Cricket World Cup: West Indies duo Baugh and Barath out

West Indies wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh and opening batsman Adrian Barath have been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering hamstring injuries.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) decided to send the duo home after medical tests showed they were two to three weeks away from fitness.

The WICB has been given permission to bring in keeper Devon Thomas and batsman Kirk Edwards as replacements.

West Indies play South Africa in their opener on 24 February in New Delhi.

Baugh, 28, has played 33 one-day internationals, with a batting average of 18.75.

Opener Barath, 20, made 113 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in his sixth one-day international in January.

The Windies will also face India, Bangladesh, England, Ireland and the Netherlands in Group B.
