Legend Lara set to end retirement
Brian Lara departs after his final innings
Lara still holds the world record Test score of 400
Batting legend Brian Lara will come out of retirement to lead one of the teams in an unofficial Indian Twenty20 league to be launched later this year.

The former West Indies captain, 38, announced his retirement from all cricket after this year's World Cup.

"It gives me great pleasure to join the Indian Cricket League," Lara said.

"I look forward to playing with promising youngsters from India and elsewhere along with some illustrious international counterparts."

Lara, one of the all-time greats, hit almost 12,000 Test runs in 131 Tests and more than 10,000 in 299 one-day internationals.

India's board has refused permission for the Indian Cricket League (ICL) and warned its states and home players of possible action if they associated themselves with it.

The International Cricket Council, which runs the world game, does not recognise the breakaway league either.
