 | I had the opportunity to bowl in Malaysia and it came out pretty well |
West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan is keen to bounce back to form in the ICC Champions Trophy after disappointing in the triangular tournament in Malaysia. The 28-year-old from Guyana failed to hit a half-century in five matches against India and Australia.
Asked by BBC World Service if he was happy with his form, he replied: "No, I'm not. But hopefully I'll be fine by the 8th (when his team play Zimbabwe).
"I didn't bat that well (in Malaysia), I'm hitting the ball a lot better now."
Sarwan, who bats at three, said he has been identified as the man to play the anchor innings for West Indies in one-day internationals.
He said: "I try to bat through the innings when I get the opportunity. That's what I've tried to do for the last couple of years."
His leg-breaks are becoming more effective with experience, especially when bowled from round the wicket to right-handers.
"I had the opportunity to bowl in Malaysia and it came out pretty well, so I'd like to make the most of it.
"We haven't produced too many spinners back home in the Caribbean so we just have to go with what we have, and Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels also bowl a bit of spin," Sarwan added.
