Rawle Brancker has resigned as chairman of the West Indies organising committee for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Brancker, a former Barbados and West Indies cricketer, tendered his resignation during a West Indies Cricket Board meeting on Saturday.
West Indies Cricket Board president Ken Gordon accepted Brancker's resignation.
Brancker, who became chairman in 2003, has not given a reason for his resignation and no decision has been made on a successor yet.
Several other non-executive directors present at the meeting also resigned, the board said.
Gordon thanked Brancker for his work preparing for the 2007 World Cup, which is the first to be held in the region.
Cricket officials will begin another series of meetings on Monday in St Kitts, where they are expected to discuss possible replacements.
