South Africa extend Arthur deal

South Africa have extended coach Mickey Arthur's contract until the conclusion of the 2011 World Cup.

Former coach Mike Procter has been appointed convener of selectors, again until after the 2011 tournament.

Arthur said: "It's a great honour. I thank Cricket South Africa for showing faith in me.

Procter added: "I'm delighted to be back in the South African cricket fold. It's exciting taking over a side that's been so successful in Test cricket."

Procter has stepped down as an International Cricket Council elite panel referee to take up his role with Cricket Couth Africa.

Arthur quit as coach of Eastern Cape in May 2005 to succeed Ray Jennings as Proteas coach.

South Africa are currently second behind Australia in both the Test and ODI rankings.

They won their Test series in England this summer but lost the subsequent one-day series 4-0, with one match drawn after rain halted play.
