South Africa hope Kallis will be fit for the Champions Trophy |
South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis will miss the tour of Sri Lanka to recover from elbow surgery. Kallis was operated on on Wednesday and his left arm will take 10-12 weeks to heal, a team spokesman said.
Chief selector Haroon Lorgat said: "We want him fully fit for the Champions Trophy and the World Cup next year."
Kallis was forced out of a tour of Australia because of "tennis elbow" and though he was back for the return series, he still had pain.
Lorgat said the Proteas squad for the July-August tour of Sri Lanka would be announced shortly.
