Pakistan have delayed naming squads for the tour of New Zealand because players have not been cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board's integrity committee. The squad for next year's World Cup will also be announced at a later date. "The committee decided further consideration of this matter is required," read a PCB statement. The integrity committee was formed following the spot-fixing scandal which engulfed Pakistani cricket during this summer's tour of England. Acting on the directives of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Pakistan Task Team, a retired judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Jamshed Ali Shah, was appointed head of the committee, which has been charged with ensuring a transparent selection process. Prior to the selection of Pakistan teams, the committee is expected to ensure players are not involved in any indiscipline. A player will be eligible for inclusion only after he has been cleared by the committee. The committee has already made various decisions, ruling out wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal and spinner Danish Kaneria for the forthcoming limited-overs and Test series in New Zealand and from the list of probables for the World Cup. And on Wednesday chief selector Mohsin Khan said that the squads could only be announced once the board had given clear instructions about certain players still under consideration, although the PCB did not name the players that have yet to be cleared. "We need to get a clearance from the integrity committee for each player, only then can we announce the squads," Khan said.
