Pakistan lift one-year ban on Rana Naved-ul-Hasan

Naved said he felt he was in good enough form to get back in the side

Pakistan bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan is targeting a return to the team after his one-year ban from selection was lifted by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Rana was one of seven players banned from from the international side after Pakistan's disastrous tour of Australia at the start of the year.

All seven have had their bans or fines commuted with five having since played for the national side.

"I'm fit, I'm bowling well and I believe I can contribute," said Naved.

Pakistan lost every match on tour - three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 contest - in a visit which was dogged by reports of poor morale and in-fighting, and which saw captain Shahid Afridi banned for biting the ball.

"Obviously this is a great relief for me as it's been hanging over my career for a few months now," said Rana, 32, who has played in nine Tests and 74 one-day internationals.

"I'm confident I can get back into the Pakistan side.

"It is a great relief to finally be cleared of this ban and now I just want to focus on cricket.

"These punishments were a dark chapter of my cricket career and I want to get over it and from tomorrow I will play domestic cricket and show my form."

Pakistan's next action is a series against South Africa in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai, starting later this month.
