Gul's absence will be keenly felt by his Pakistan team-mates |
Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul is likely to miss the rest of the Test series against England after sustaining a torn hamstring at Edgbaston on Saturday. "Umar has gone to hospital for an MRI scan and he will not play again in this game," Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed told Reuters news agency. Gul suffered the injury while running into bowl as England built a sizeable lead on day two of the second Test. Wahab Riaz looks set to make his Test debut at The Oval in the third match. Riaz is a 25-year-old left-arm seam bowler who has made a handful of appearances in limited-overs internationals. Pakistan's management will be keen for Gul to return for the two Twenty20 internationals and five one-dayers that complete their tour of England in September. Gul did, however, bat in Pakistan's second innings with a runner as they pushed their lead over England past 100.
