Shabbir Ahmed has a fine Test record in a stop-start career |
Pakistan's Shabbir Ahmed has passed biomechanical tests on his bowling action and is expected to return from a 12-month ban in December. Shabbir was banned after twice being reported by match officials in 2005.
But University of Western Australia tests found his elbow now straightens within the 15-degree legal limit.
"PCB will do the needful for getting Shabbir's clearance to represent Pakistan after his ban finishes on 18 December," said a board statement.
Pakistan are keen to get Shabbir back into action before the tour of South Africa early next year with doubts over key fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.
Both were banned for doping offences and are awaiting the results of an appeal.
Shabbir, who has taken 51 wickets in 10 Tests, has experienced constant problems with his action since his debut in 1999.
