Sinclair had circulated his name to various clubs around the world |
Batsman Mathew Sinclair has accepted a 12-month central contract offered by New Zealand Cricket officials. The 31-year-old was thinking over a move to England, Australia or South Africa after being left off the original 20-man list.
But NZC turned to him again after Hamish Marshall turned down a contract and opted to commit himself to career in county cricket in England.
Sinclair accepted the offer after being given a Friday deadline.
He will now be looking to establish a regular place after being in and out of the Test side for the past couple of years.
"It gives me financial security for a year and I can get out there and give it a bloody good crack," he commented.
Sinclair scored a double century in his debut Test against West Indies in 1999, but has only played 27 games in total, scoring 1,448 runs at an average of 35.
