 Vettori has suffered with back problems throughout his Test career |
New Zealand off-spinner Daniel Vettori will miss next week's second Test against Sri Lanka in Wellington in order to rest his troublesome back. The 26-year-old, who sat out the first Test in Napier, is also being treated for a sprain to his right wrist.
Black Caps manager Lindsay Crocker said that while Vettori had battled through three Tests against Australia, they did not want to risk his long-term fitness.
Vettori has taken 42 Test wickets in the past year at an average of 27.78.
