India will tour Sri Lanka in February to help recoup some of the $25m lost after the recent attacks in Mumbai.

The visitors will play five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match over a two-week period.

The Indian cricket board cancelled two one-day internationals against England and a proposed tour of Pakistan following the attacks.

Sri Lanka will face India in a window between three one-dayers and two Tests on a two-legged tour of Pakistan.

The Sri Lankans agreed to the tour of Pakistan after India pulled out of a scheduled series of matches in the wake of the Mumbai attacks.

The Champions Trophy, due to be held in Pakistan, was also postponed.

Sri Lanka will host the India series after the ODIs in Pakistan before returning for the Tests, with the itinerary being announced in the next few days.

Narainswamy Srinivasan, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said: "India and Sri Lanka have a very long and close relationship in cricket, among other things, and we will continue to support Sri Lankan cricket in future.

"We look forward to an interesting one-day series and a Twenty20 game in Sri Lanka when our team comes here."

India have also asked to play an extra Test on their tour of New Zealand in March, where they are already set for two Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match.
