Physio John Gloster helps Sachin Tendulkar leave the field |
India batsman Sachin Tendulkar has sprained his right ankle during practice for the tour of Bangladesh. Surendra Bhave, administrative manager for the squad, said: "The injury does not appear to be serious."
But he said the 34-year-old had been treated with ice and may have to go for medical tests and X-rays.
Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports that the players have been banned from eating fried food and red meat during their conditing camp in Calcutta.
Tendulkar suffered his injury while negotiating a bouncer from fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth on the first day of the week-long camp.
He limped to the dressing-room after some initial treatment from team physio John Gloster.

India were knocked out of the World Cup several weeks before its conclusion last Saturday.
One of the teams they lost to in the Caribbean was Bangladesh, who later beat eventual semi-finalists South Africa.
The India squad leaves for Bangladesh on Monday to play three one-day internationals and two Tests.
Rahul Dravid remains as captain, while Ravi Shastri has agreed to be coach just for this tour.
Tendulkar is only in the squad for the Test series.
Explaining the dietary regime, Ratnakar Shetty, an official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, said: "Every tour has rules and regulations, and a diet chart."
The AP report says grilled chicken, boiled eggs, fruit and vegetables are being promoted as healthy options.
