Tendulkar was short of his best form in the Tests against England |
Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the start of next month's Test series in the West Indies after failing to recover from shoulder surgery. Tendulkar, India's most capped Test player, was due to undergo a fitness test in Mumbai on Tuesday.
But he did not bat at the net session, which was being watched by chairman of selectors Kiran More.
Indian board secretary Niranjan Shah said: "We feel Sachin is not 100% fit but we will review his condition."
Tendulkar has not played since the final Test defeat against England in March, after which surgeon Andrew Wallace operated on his shoulder.
Shah said: "Sachin will go to London to consult with Andrew. He will continue with his rehabilitation.
"We will review his condition after two or three weeks. If the team management in the West Indies wants his services, and if he has recovered fully then, we'll send him."
