Ganguly feels he performed OK in the Karachi Test match

"I am playing well at present and hopefully I will continue to play well whenever given the opportunity," Ganguly told the Times of India.

He played in two of the three Tests in Pakistan but batted only got two innings, hitting 34 and 37 in Karachi.

Meanwhile, some newspapers are calling for national icon Sachin Tendulkar to be dropped after a run of low scores.

Ganguly summed up his performances in Karachi as "batting pretty well."

He said: "I put up two hundred-run partnerships and did OK."

Ganguly said he would be willing to open the innings in the upcoming home Test series against England if the team wanted him to do so.

The former captain went on "This has taken away from Sachin his self-importance and brought upon him a pressure that only a player in his position undergoes.

"He is undecided about whether to attack or defend."

Tendulkar has averaged 29.23 in his last 15 Tests, but not everyone is ganging up against him.
