Mortaza took 2-37 against India in the recent Asia Cup

Bangladesh have named pace bowler Mashrafe Mortaza as captain for July's one-day internationals in England.

Mortaza became captain last summer but suffered a knee injury in his first Test as skipper as the Tigers beat a heavily weakened West Indies side.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan took over the captaincy and has led the side since then, presiding over two Test series defeats by England this year.

But Mortaza has now reclaimed the captaincy after returning to fitness.

After having surgery on both knees, he made an abortive comeback in a one-dayer against England in February, bowling only six overs in apparent discomfort, but returned to action at the ICC World Twenty20 in May, and came through all three of Bangladesh's Asia Cup games in June.

Former skipper Mohammad Ashraful, all-rounder Naeem Islam and spinner Suhrawadi Shuvo have been dropped from the squad which was on duty in the Asia Cup.

Their places go to batsmen Raqibul Hasan - three months after he announced his retirement from cricket at the age of 22 before changing his mind - and Faisal Hossain, who last played an ODI in 2004, and seamer Nazmul Hossain.

Having left England after losing the second Test at Old Trafford, Bangladesh are now returning to the UK for warm-up games against Sussex and Middlesex before their three-game one-day international series against England begins at Trent Bridge on 8 July.

The Tigers will also face Ireland (twice), Scotland and the Netherlands in one-day internationals.
