Bangladesh, weakened by the loss of "rebel" players, have named three new players in a 14-man squad for the home one-day series against New Zealand. Rookies Imrul Kayes, Naeem Islam and Mahbubul Alam have joined the recalled pair of wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim and pace bowler Syed Rasel. Bangladesh lost 14 top players when they joined the Indian Cricket League and were banned by for 10 years. The ICL is an out-of-favour rival to the "official" Indian Premier League. Middle order batsman Roqibul Hassan was absent from the squad through injury while pace bowlers Dollar Mahmud and Nazmul Hossain were axed for poor performances in the 3-0 series loss in Australia. The first and the second one-dayers will be played in Dhaka on Thursday and Saturday, with the third in Chittagong on 14 October.
Squad: Mohammad Ashraful (captain), Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Saqibul Hasan, Junaid Siddique, Imrul Kayes, Mehrab Hossain Jr, Naeem Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmud Ullah, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel, Mahbubul Alam, Shahadat Hossain.
