Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud has decided to retire from international cricket at the age of 34.

"I think it's the perfect time to quit as I don't find a permanent place in the team these days," he told the BBC.

Mahmud played 12 Tests, nine of them as skipper, and 76 one-day internationals, but his record was moderate.

His finest hour came during the 1999 World Cup in England when he scored 27 and took 3-31 in a shock 62-run win over Pakistan.
