Bollinger impressed by taking 40 wickets in the Pura Cup |
Fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has pulled out of Australia's Test squad for the tour of the Caribbean after suffering a stress fracture to his lower back. He has been replaced by uncapped New South Wales seamer Doug Bollinger, 26, for the series starting on 22 May. "Given the amount of cricket facing the Australian side over the next 18 months a conservative approach is best," said chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch. "This is a great opportunity for Doug who had a great season for NSW." Left-armer Bollinger, who played for English county Worcestershire last season, took 45 wickets in seven Pura Cup games for New South Wales. It earned him a central contract but he will need to pass a fitness test on the foot he fractured in February. The first Test against West Indies takes place in Jamaica, followed by matches in Antigua and Barbados. After that the teams will take part in a Twenty20 international and five one-day internationals. Hilfenhaus, 25, is expected to be out of action for around three months.
