Bob Woolmer's murder has overshadowed events on the field

There may be some outstanding performances in this World Cup but one thing that will be in everyone's hearts forever is the tragic passing of a great man and ambassador of cricket, Mr Bob Woolmer.

Players the world over talk about the things he has done. Whether as a player or as a coach he made cricket a better sport.

My experiences with him were very limited but on every occasion we met I felt I had learned something or was better for our chat.

He was important to Pakistan and had touched a lot of the players, they speak of him like a father to them.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends and we will always remember him.

It is hard to move on and write something after you reflect on the happenings of the last week.

The Super 8s are in full swing now.

We have been going through the usual preparations, always learning more about conditions and opposition players - most teams have plenty of video footage on every player and a lot of time is spent looking at this.

We prepare mentally and physically, fine-tuning our skills for the game at training and preparing our plans for the opposition.

After our first game in Antigua against West Indies we move on to the rising team in world cricket, Bangladesh.

With a large population and good cricket development it was just a matter of time before they found their feet on the world stage.

They combine both youth and experience. In fact, the more games they have played, the better they have become.

A big positive in Bangladesh's favour is that they have some new young players with no fear and some exciting natural talent.

Following the Bangladesh game we get a few days to relax before we start to set up for a game a lot of readers will be looking forward to - Australia v England.
