Australia will play India and West Indies in a limited-overs tri-series in Singapore and Malaysia in September. The event is a prelude to the Champions Trophy tournament in India in October between 12 and 24 September.
There will be 11 matches in all, with each team playing the other twice with the top two making the final.
Cricket Australia boss James Sutherland said the tri-series was "a fantastic opportunity for Australia to play against world-class opposition".
The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the tournament through its cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah.
He said in a statement seven matches will be played in Singapore and the remaining four in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
Singapore has previously hosted three tri-series, the first one in 1996 between India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Padang and two in 1999 and 2000 at the new Kallang ground.
Kuala Lumpur hosted international one-day matches when cricket was played at the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
The ground arrangements for the latest series will be organised by CA while the BCCI will handle the marketing and sale of television rights.
Three months ago, Australia captain Ricky Ponting complained the international schedule was too hectic.
"The programme has been very demanding - we just didn't have a break," he said after a packed season at home, followed by tours to South Africa and Bangladesh.
