Warne and a plaster mould made for the new trophy |
Australia and Sri Lanka will compete for the new Warne-Muralitharan trophy when their two-Test series gets under way in Brisbane on Thursday. Warne retired this year with a Test record 708 wickets while Muralitharan takes part in the series just eight wickets behind the Australian.
The trophy has been introduced to mark the 25th anniversary of Tests between the two countries.
It features casts of the right hand of each of the two bowlers.

A Cricket Australia statement said: "The two greatest bowlers in world cricket history have lent their names to a perpetual prize that will be played for in Test Series between Australia and Sri Lanka."
Warne said: "We've had some great battles in the past and helped raise each other's game to the heights that we've reached.
"The rivalry between Australia and Sri Lanka has grown immeasurably over the last decade and I know my former Australian team-mates will be super keen to be the first country to win the trophy when they do battle."
The players will unveil the trophy before the second Test in Hobart starting on 16 November.
