We only have ourselves to blame - Strauss (UK users only) England captain Andrew Strauss offered no excuses after his team succumbed to a three-wicket defeat against Ireland. Kevin O'Brien's 113 off 63 balls helped Ireland to overhaul England's 327-8. "We'd done a reasonable job, got them five down and things looked comfortable but we weren't reckoning on O'Brien's outstanding innings," Strauss said. "They fully deserved their victory. We're bitterly disappointed, our World Cup is not over by any means but we've been haemorrhaging runs too quickly." Dublin-born all-rounder O'Brien, who will be 27 on Friday, made his debut against England in 2006 and hit 142 against Kenya in his fifth one-day international. England fielders' catching catastrophe (UK users only) Against England in Bangalore, his 49th ODI innings contained 13 fours and six sixes and Strauss said: "It was pretty brutal and it set us back pretty quickly. "He chanced his arm, he hit some great shots and the powerplay came off for them." Strauss was one of several England players to drop catches during the shock defeat and he said: "I'm still at a loss to explain it. "We're doing exactly the same fielding drills and I still think we're an excellent fielding side." England's next match is a formidable encounter against South Africa in Chennai on Sunday.
