The towering Tremlett picked up 17 wickets during the Ashes

England have awarded paceman Chris Tremlett an incremental contract for the 2010-11 international season after he impressed on the tour of Australia.

The 29-year-old has played in three Tests and three one-day internationals so far during the trip down under.

England selector Geoff Miller said: "We are delighted with Chris's contribution in both forms of the game this winter."

Incremental contracts are one step down from a full central contract and are appearance based.

The 6ft 8in Surrey paceman was a surprise inclusion in England's Ashes party but an injury to Stuart Broad gave him his chance in the Test side.

He played in the last three matches of England's 3-1 series win, claiming 17 wickets.

Miller called his performance an "outstanding effort" and added: "He can be very proud of the role he played in helping the team retain the Ashes."

Despite his fine form during the Test series, Tremlett has not been named in England's squad for the World Cup, which is played in the one-day format.

Incremental contracts are awarded on a points basis, with 20 points needed for a player to earn a deal.

Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a Twenty20 or ODI cap.
