Finn took nine wickets against Bangladesh in the first Test in May

England seamer Steven Finn has been handed an incremental contract for the 2009/10 season after an impressive start to his international career.

The 21-year-old, making his third Test appearance, claimed the man-of-the-match award against Bangladesh last week after taking nine wickets.

Finn qualified for the contract after keeping his place for the second Test.

The Middlesex bowler made his Test debut against Bangladesh in March and won his second cap on the same tour.

Finn as taken a total of 13 wickets in his three Tests, at an average of 28 and earned plaudits from England captain Andrew Strauss after his excellent display at Lord's.

"Steven Finn has been bowling like that all season, he got more out of the wicket than our other bowlers and has a big future," said Strauss.

"If he stays on his feet he can go far. He is a nice man, very confident, good to have in the dressing room and has a good cricketing brain, which is useful.

"He bowled very well and hit the deck very hard."

Non-contracted players earn points for England appearances: five for a Test match and two for a limited-overs game, and can earn a contract by accumulating 20.

He graduated from the England Performance Programme and England Lions squads.
