Kevin Pietersen's form will come good - Alec Stewart

Former England captain Alec Stewart says Kevin Pietersen will soon return to form for the national side.

Pietersen has only scored 52 runs in three innings since returning from a four-month injury spell.

But Stewart, who had three months out with a broken finger in the 1990s, believes Pietersen will come good.

He told BBC London 94.9: "When I came back I was out of sync. But once I got back into my rhythm it was fine, and I'm sure Pietersen is the same."

The 29-year-old South African born batsman was forced out of the game with a long-standing Achillies injury in July.

Stewart added: "He's England's finest and greatest player and he wants to be doing it now.

"But at the same time he's got to realise that he just needs to acclimatise back into international cricket, and not try to dominate too early.

"He will come good sooner rather than later but with that long break it's certainly not easy."
