It's a tantalising fourth day in prospect with England aiming to take 10 wickets and Australia needing a further 466 runs to win but they get off to a bad start when opener Simon Katich is out lbw
Katich walks back to The Oval pavilion just 15 minutes after he headed out after being trapped lbw for 43, Australia 86-1
Swann is ecstatic after making the breakthrough... just nine more wickets to go
and England do not have to wait long, as in the next over Stuart Broad dismisses Shane Watson in similar fashion for 40
Broad and the team appeal with a successful outcome as Australia wobble on 90-2, a long way off their world record 546 target
But captain Ricky Ponting is determined not to lose his head or his wicket as he grinds his way to 43 off 70 balls at lunch
And Australia's Mr Cricket Mike Hussey finally turns up this series with a measured 38 off 83 balls as Australia reach 171-2 at lunch - needing another 375 runs with eight wickets intact
During lunch Test Match Special treats listeners to Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe (Potter) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)...can Harry magic up a couple of wickets...?
And the magic is with Andrew Flintoff as an inspired piece of fielding sees him run out the Australia captain with a direct hit
Punter hangs around for the third umpire decision but he is well out so he has to depart for 66 with Australia on 217-3, but The Oval crowd do give him a warm applause as he heads back to the pavilion
And just five balls later Australia's vice-captain Michael Clarke has gone too... this time Andrew Strauss running him out for a duck as Australia go from 217-2 to 220-4
And it gets even better for England as wicketkeeper Matt Prior stumps Marcus North for 10, Australia 236-5 but Hussey (77no) and Brad Haddin take them to 265-5 at tea
Finally there is something for Australia to celebrate as Hussey reaches his 10th Test century, Australia up to 300-5, only 246 runs off a world record victory
Hussey and Brad Haddin put on 91 for the sixth wicket to keep Australia's hopes alive but when the wicketkeeper goes for 34 England are into the tail and scent the urn is returning home
Steve Harmison's inclusion in the squad has come under criticism but he knows how to bowl out the tail and takes 3-54, including Peter Siddle and Stuart Clark in consecutive balls as England need just one more wicket for Ashes glory
And that's it...England have won the Ashes, Swann taking the final wicket when Hussey is caught by Cook at short-leg for a valiant 121 in a losing cause
After beating Australia by 197 runs at The Oval, England regain the Ashes with a 2-1 series victory and celebrate champagne-style
