Mushtaq retired as a Sussex player in 2008 after six years at Hove |
Mushtaq Ahmed will spend more time with England as their spin coach after Sussex released him from his contract. Ahmed had been signed up to coach 40 days at the county, but the 38-year-old will still do some work with them as he will be based in Sussex this summer. "It is a fantastic opportunity for Mushtaq, and for England," said Sussex pro cricket manager Mark Robinson. "If Sussex can do anything that helps England's chances of winning the Ashes, we are more than happy to oblige." The former Pakistan spinner will work with Sussex on Thursday as the Sharks take on Essex Eagles and will also coach them ahead of the match against Hampshire Hawks on 29 May. Mushtaq - who retired from Sussex playing duties in 2008 - was appointed a consultant spin-bowling coach by the England and Wales Cricket Board in October 2008.
