Andrew Strauss has reiterated his support for Andy Flower to be chosen as England's new full-time coach. The former Zimbabwe captain has developed a good relationship with Strauss, standing in as coach for the West Indies tour. And Strauss said: "We've worked very well together so it would be fantastic to continue what we've started." South African coach Mickey Arthur, Ashley Giles and Kent coach Graham Ford are all thought to be in the running. The England captain has not been consulted by the England and Wales Cricket Board about who he thinks should be a full-time successor to Peter Moores, who was sacked in January following a high-profile dispute with former captain Kevin Pietersen. | 606: DEBATE |
But he said: "I think there are some general principles [from this tour] that I'd be very keen to keep. "A new coach would probably have his own ideas and it's a case of compromising and making sure between you, you are going in the right direction. "Now is not a time for thinking about that too much, but Andy is a strong candidate and there is a good chance that England will continue as they are but that remains to be seen in the coming weeks." Pietersen's rift with Moores led to the two losing their respective posts as England captain and coach in January. Flower was brought into the England set-up by Moores and Pietersen told the Daily Mail: "What I would say is that he has been totally different without Moores. "It's been refreshing to see Andy come out of his shell and stamp his authority on the team and management. He treats people really well."
