Broad wants quick Test resolution

Stuart Broad hopes England can clinch a 2-0 series win after New Zealand ended day three of the final Test at Trent Bridge on 177-5 in their follow-on.

"We're in a good position so hopefully we can get five wickets quickly on Sunday," bowler Broad told BBC Sport.

"Our bowling held up very well and that's what it's all about. It's always a case of trying to get wickets any way we can.

"Three hours was a long session for us but we'll fight again."

The Nottinghamshire bowler took two wickets after the visitors were bowled out for 123 earlier in the day and were forced to follow-on.

The Kiwis displayed some resistance, with Brendon McCullum hitting his 10th Test fifty, and Broad acknowledged it was a long day for England.

"To pick up those wickets (of McCullum and Daniel Flynn) late on was very pleasing as we kept going all the way through.

"We needed to keep the ball in all the right areas, and it looks like it will be a bit sunnier on Sunday so we're looking strong."

Meanwhile, McCullum, who was out for 71, said: "It was very disappointing for us to lose two wickets at the end.

"The Trent Bridge conditions were in England's favour, and it was hard for us to play shots with confidence today.

"We needed a long session to try and force the result. There's still an outside chance so you never know - it's not a lost cause yet," he added.

"England bowled well all day and their wickets in the end were probably deserved."
