Broad bowled 14 consecutive overs in a fabulous spell on day four |
Stuart Broad urged his team-mates to stay patient on day five as England look to press home their advantage and win the series against New Zealand. The Nottinghamshire seamer took 2-40 as the Kiwis closed on 222-5 on day four, still 331 runs off the victory target.
But Broad warned: "It's still a flat pitch and we have to bide our time, build pressure and bowl maidens.
"It didn't swing much all day but a bit of cloud in the morning would go down well! We're desperate to win this."
The 21-year-old bowled brilliantly in tandem with Monty Panesar, the pair sharing the five Kiwi wickets, and he added: "Monty was magnificent.
"He doesn't give you much rest between overs but I tried to be a bit clever, mixing up my length and pace a bit.
"The pitch offered us nothing so it was a case of trying to change things up and make it happen.

"Now we'll be back in the morning refreshed, with the new ball, and keen to hit them hard and wrap up the series win."
New Zealand opener Matthew Bell, meanwhile, was quick to praise England's bowling attack.
Bell's innings of 69 was a welcome score after a tough series for the opener, and he said: "England's attack is very challenging. They know their own games very well from the county scene and seem to work very well in tandem.
"Every one of them does something a little different and that's what you get from a good Test side.
"It makes facing them all the tougher, you have to dig in, work hard and play every ball on it's merits.
"On a personal note, it's just disappointing that my partnership with Stephen, which was developing nicely, ended so swiftly after tea."
