England have beaten India and Sri Lanka in their last two ODI series |
England's one-day squad departed for New Zealand on Saturday with coach Peter Moores looking for his men to continue last year's improvement. The tourists play two Twenty20 games and five one-day internationals against the Kiwis before two Tests in March.
A third straight ODI series win - not achieved since 2003 - is the first aim for Moores, who took charge in May.
"It's an exciting time. It's a case of the one-day side carrying on and gaining momentum," he explained.
"We make no bones of the fact that we are still working on our one-day team and looking to build one that will gain consistent results."
England beat India 4-3 in a home one-day series last September before winning in Sri Lanka a month later.

They lost 3-2 on their previous trip to New Zealand in 2002 and have been beaten in five of their last seven meetings with the Kiwis.
But Moores is confident his team's recent trend of success can continue, starting with the opening Twenty20 game in Auckland on 5 February.
"New Zealand are a very competitive side who get stuck in and generally make the most of what they have," he added. "On their own patch they can be pretty tough to play.
"But if you didn't expect to win there would be no point in playing and we expect to win both the one-day and Test series."
The one-day squad, led by Paul Collingwood, features two uncapped 25-year-olds in Tim Ambrose - who was named instead of Matt Prior as the second wicket-keeper - and off-spinner James Tredwell.
