England unchanged for final Test
Stuart Broad is in the 12 but could miss out on a Test debut again
Broad is in the 12 but could miss out on a Test debut again
England have named an unchanged squad for the third and final Test against India starting on Thursday at The Oval.

All-rounder Andrew Flintoff and pace bowler Matthew Hoggard are not ready to return after ankle and back problems.

Leicestershire paceman Stuart Broad, still to make his Test debut, is in the 12, but could miss out again even though England lost at Trent Bridge.

They need a win to avoid a first home series defeat since 2001 and a first home reverse against India in 21 years.

Graveney says they can avoid that if they can build on encouraging displays from the bowlers at Trent Bridge, where Ryan Sidebottom and Chris Tremlett produced fine spells.

"We don't dismiss the fact that we're 1-0 down in the series. India fully deserved to win the Test but there were plenty of good points to come out from it, particularly the performance of our bowlers," chairman of selectors David Graveney told BBC Five Live.

"The bottom line is we lost the Test because we didn't get probably 50/60 more runs in the first innings and certainly another 50/60 more in the second innings.

"If India had to chase 180-200 that might have been a different game. There is no doubt if we are to level the series the first innings is going to be crucial."

The game in Nottingham was marked by several clashes between opposing players.

You want a full-on contest but I'm sure both captains will reiterate to their players that there is a level of behaviour that is not acceptable

India paceman Sree Santh lost half his match fee for a shoulder-charge against England skipper Michael Vaughan, and also bowled an accidental beamer at Kevin Pietersen.

Visiting seamer Zaheer Khan brandished his bat towards Pietersen after accusing the hosts of throwing jelly beans at him in a bid to distract him.

Graveney is confident things will be calmer in London.

"You want a full-on contest but I'm sure both captains will reiterate to their players that there is a level of behaviour that is not acceptable," he added.

"The overall behaviour of the teams and atmosphere they played in, which was tough and uncompromising, has to be monitored.

"The incident regarding the jelly beans was childish and has no place on a cricket pitch, let alone a Test match, and we'll leave it that.

"Whoever did it will be suitably embarrassed. We talked about it and the matter will be dealt with internally.

"I think the game has changed over a long period of time. Whatever England do or don't do or what is perceived, we play the game in an atmosphere exactly the same as any other team.

"That is the way the modern game is played. I don't believe we do anything more or less than any other cricket team in the world."

England squad: Vaughan (capt), Strauss, Cook, Pietersen, Collingwood, Bell, Prior (wkt), Tremlett, Sidebottom, Panesar, Anderson, Broad.
