Vaughan wants 'ruthless' England
Michael Vaughan
Vaughan wants his side to be more clinical when on top
England skipper Michael Vaughan has called on his team to show no mercy to the West Indies in the fourth and final Test at Chester-le-Street this weekend.

Vaughan was delighted to seal the series at Old Trafford but is eager to hammer home his side's superiority.

"I'm looking for 3-0," said Vaughan after becoming England's most successful captain of all time.

"You've got to enjoy getting teams in the dirt. You've got to enjoy getting on top of them."

England took an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series with a 60-run win in Manchester but Vaughan was unhappy that the tourists got as close as they did to pulling off a remarkable triumph.

We are on a winning streak but you have to be ruthless to continue it

The Windies were set a record target of 455 on Saturday and were 22-1 when play resumed on Sunday.

But a magnificent effort from Shivnarine Chanderpaul frustrated England's bowling attack and helped the West Indies get uncomfortably close to pulling off a famous victory.

"There was a little spell in the game in which we weren't as ruthless as I would have liked and we allowed them to sneak back into it," admitted Vaughan.

"But we will have to learn from that. We are now two-up and we will go to Durham and get a 3-0.

"Winning becomes a habit and losing becomes a habit. We are on a winning streak but you have to be ruthless to want to continue it."

The Yorkshire star will also be keen to build on his superb record as England captain.

Monday's victory was the 21st of his 35-Test tenure and it took him past Peter May's previous best of 20 wins. Vaughan has also won eight of his 11 Test series in charge.
