Pakistan build a lead of 163 over England on a rain-hit day two of the fourth Test, with Mohammad Yousuf hitting an unbeaten century.
Player of the day
Yousuf made the most of his luck to complete another century |
You can take your pick from Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat and Mohammad Yousuf, because all three batted extremely well.
While Yousuf showed his experience by reaching three figures, his two young colleagues will be devastated at having perished in the nineties.
Matthew Hoggard tempted Farhat, on 91, to nibble outside the off-stump, while Hafeez had reached 95 when he loosely clipped a catch to short mid-wicket.
This was not good timing for Pakistan as England were immediately able to take the second new ball.
Talking point
The lack of penetration shown by England's bowling attack will concern Duncan Fletcher.
It is often a problem with only four bowlers. This performance will probably ensure that, if Andrew Flintoff is fit to return in Brisbane, England will aim to have a five-man attack.
Steve Harmison is miles short of his best at the moment, both in terms of pace and accuracy.
His left arm is collapsing and his body falling away, and this must be sorted out before he arrives in Australia - by bowling, and not resting.
Prospects for day three
With a lead of 163, and three days still to play, a Pakistan victory is still the most likely outcome, despite the time lost to bad weather.
England have just taken the second new ball, and must dislodge both Yousuf and Inzamam-ul-Haq if they are to give themselves a chance of saving the game.
But with plenty of batting to come, Pakistan will aim to bat through the whole of the third day.
