Younis missed the Lord's Test with a knee injury |
Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan is expected to re-take his place in the middle order after a knee injury. "Younis is fit now so he will be playing the second Test," team manager Zaheer Abbas told Test Match Special.
Abbas is awaiting more information on Shoaib Akhtar, currently training with Warwickshire after an ankle problem.
Abbas added: "We have to wait for the doctor's report whether he is fit enough to play in the Test matches. If the reports are good, he will."
Pakistan have called up batsman Taufeeq Umar and seamer Rao Iftikhar Anjum after Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif returned home with injury problems.
Malik's recovery from elbow surgery is taking longer than expected and Asif is also sidelined with an elbow injury.
Left-handed opener Taufeeq averages 40 from 24 Tests, while paceman Anjum has only one Test appearance to his name.
The tourists have already replaced fast bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan (groin) with uncapped left-armer Samiullah Niazi.
