Sri Lanka hope Fernando will shake up England's batsmen |
Sri Lanka have called up fast bowlers Dilhara Fernando and Ruchira Perera for the one-day series against England. They have been drafted in to give the attack an extra cutting edge, replacing Nuwan Zoysa and Nuwan Kulasekara.
Left-armer Perera, who was reported for an illegal action during the 2002 tour to England, has been passed fit after a hamstring injury.
Fernando, meanwhile, returns to the squad after working to iron out a persistent no-ball problem.
The 26-year-old is arguably the fastest bowler in Sri Lanka, having once been clocked at over 90mph in South Africa.
And he has a good one-day record against England, having taken 15 wickets in six games at a cost of only 19 runs each.
Sri Lanka have also called up experienced batsman Russel Arnold, who has played 160 limited overs internationals since his debut nine years ago.
Thilan Samaraweera, Michael Vandort and Jehan Mubarak, who all played in the Tests against England, will be returning home with Zoysa and Kulasekara.
Sri Lanka and England will play a Twenty20 International at the Rose Bowl on 15 June before beginning the best of five one-day series at Lord's two days later.
Sri Lanka one-day squad: M Jayawardene (captain), K Sangakkara (wkt), M Muralitharan, S Jayasuriya, U Tharanga, T Dilshan, C Kapugedera, R Arnold, F Maharoof, C Vaas, L Malinga, D Fernando, R Perera, M Bandara.
