Langer feels Warne could be key
Warne is congratulated after bowling Andrew Strauss

Australia batsman Justin Langer insists his side are still confident of winning the second Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

England are 124 ahead but Langer says Andrew Strauss' dismissal by Shane Warne has lifted the tourists.

"It would be a great victory from this position. We are behind but Shane showed it's going to be hard work.

"Ashley Giles was hard to bat against with those rough patches but Shane will probably be more difficult," said the left-hander, who made a gritty 82.

"Whatever we're set, though, we'd back ourselves to get them. We have to make sure we hit the pitch as hard as England did today."

Langer admits his side have been taken aback by the ferocity with which England have come at them after losing the first Test at Lord's.

The home side rattled up 407 on day one before their bowlers produced similar intensity in the field to bowl Australia out for 308 on Friday.

"With all due respect to England or the other teams, we're usually the ones dishing out that sort of batting," Langer added.

"We really respect how England are playing and they really do mean business in this series."
