England have appointed Somerset academy director Kevin Shine as successor to fast-bowling coach Troy Cooley. He will begin the job on 13 March and could join the England squad in time for the third Test in India.
Shine, 36, spent a nine-year playing career at Hampshire, Middlesex and Somerset before being hit by injury.
He served as Somerset coach from 2001 to 2004, leading them to the C&G Trophy in his first season beford moving into the academy role.
Somerset captain Ian Blackwell, who is on tour with England, said: "He's very much a bio-mechanical bowling coach.

"He is a top-class, level-four coach who will bring something along the lines of what Troy Cooley has brought - he will be an added bonus to the unit."
Shine joins another former Somerset first-team coach, Mark Garaway, in England colours after his successor at Taunton was named England team analyst earlier this month.
The former pace bowler said he was looking forward to a "great personal challenge".

"I have had a great time at Somerset and I have some great memories.
"I want to thank the club for its support, and wish them well for the coming season."
Cooley is to return to his native Australia in a similar role after his contract expires at the end of March.
