 | Shane felt as though he needs tuning - he has always said he sees me as his mechanic |
Shane Warne will be as good as ever in the first Ashes Test match at Lord's, according to his spin mentor.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes Warne is past his best, while fast bowler Matthew Hoggard has claimed he is "getting on a bit".
But Terry Jenner, who has helped guide Warne over 15 years, told BBC Sport: "We will see more of the Warne of old than the Warne of recent times.
"I don't think Australia can dominate England unless he is at his best."
Warne himself has admitted he cannot always attain the prodigious spin of his early career because of injuries to his shoulder and fingers.
He approached Jenner, who is working as a spin consultant for the ECB over the summer, to work on his technique.
"He has developed some bad habits which he knows about, but he was not sure on how to go about fixing them," said Jenner, who first linked up with Warne during his time at the Australian Cricket Academy in Adelaide as a 20-year-old.
"Shane felt as though he needed tuning - he has always said he sees me as his mechanic - I give him oil changes and grease-ups!

"It was something that was supported by (Australian coach) John Buchanan without any hesitation."
The last time Jenner worked with Warne was after he had returned to Australia after their tour to Sri Lanka in March 2004.
The pair spent two hours together during an Australian nets session at Lord's on Tuesday.
And Jenner believes Warne was more than happy with the outcome of their session.
"A couple of times Shane said 'This feels different' but it was actually how it always was - he had just developed one or two quirks," he said.
"He certainly improved in that couple of hours and I would imagine he will be doing the same again over the summer.
"If you have got good technique, you will find your form. That has always been Shane's secret.
"He is always trying to be at the absolute peak of his form and that is something that is very difficult to do."
