England captain Michael Vaughan says his team should be regarded among the likely winners for the World Cup, despite shaky performances recently.
In an interview for the Sunday Telegraph, Vaughan said: "I reckon we'll have a favourite's chance in a year's time in the Caribbean.
"With Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen, who can win games on their own, we'll have a good crack at it."
England are ranked sixth out of 10 in the official limited-overs rankings.
They lost 3-2 in a one-day series in Pakistan just before Christmas having been defeated 4-1 in South Africa at the start of last year.
On home soil last summer, they shared the NatWest Series with Australia after a tie before being beaten 2-1 in a subsequent three-match series against the same opponents.
Vaughan's personal record as a batsman in one-day internationals is poor - he averages 28.36, and has no century in 74 appearances.
But he insisted: "I feel I've got better in the last year-and-a-half since I moved to No. 3.
"We've just got to get some experience into our young bowlers."
Vaughan is also eyeing a career in sports management - specifically golf - after retiring as a player.
He said: "They say most golfers are much the same tee to green, so it must all come down to what's in their heads.
"I reckon so many of them get the mental side wrong. I think I could have some impact there."
